Yeah, I sell women’s shoes. So what?
I get teased a lot because of the fact that I sell women’s shoes. The humor is great, but at the end of the day I’m the one who gets the last laugh. Just like everything else if you source the right products including shoes the ROI can be very high.
So what made me start selling women’s shoes in the first place? I had a friend who played for the San Francisco 49ers back in the 90’s in the Steve Young era who also won a Super Bowl with them. Without mentioning any names I can say he was a stand out player as he also went to multiple Pro Bowls. At one time he was the highest paid player at his position in the NFL.
So what does all this have to do with selling women’s shoes? Well, I remember they had renovated their walk in closet in their home and the first thing I noticed was a wall that was specifically dedicated for his wife’s shoes. I remember his wife telling me how much she paid for some of her shoes and I was blown away by some of the retail prices. On some of the shoes she mention how she had paid well over $1000.
I was astonished by some of the prices of the shoes and in my head the gears started spinning. I started thinking, “If she purchased a pair of shoes for $1200 then I can clearly sell them for half of that.” I went home that night and started looking up women’s shoes on eBay. I was surprised by the prices of the shoes that were sold on eBay. Some shoes were being sold for high as $800.00 for a used pair.
- Manolo Blahniks: Sourced for $25.00 and sold for $400.00
- Christian Louboutins: Sourced live on Periscope for $50.00 and sold for $500.00
- Hunter Boots: Sourced for $25.00 and sold for $75.00
The list goes on and on. The moral of the story is that you should explore outside of your comfort zone and always educate yourself. In the business of reselling the more you’re educated the more money you’re going to make. That’s the bottom line. I went from knowing nothing about women’s shoes to making thousands of dollars over the years on a pair of shoes that most of you probably walk by everyday in a thrift store.
The more you know about products the more successful you will be. I encourage everyone to search eBay for random products and niches. I guarantee that you will be surprised as there is a market for practically everything.
